Tammy TappanParticipantI have been unable to upload the plugin to my WordPress site – I keep getting a 403 Forbidden error, with the message that “A potentially unsafe operation has been detected in your request to this site.” Are there any options besides uploading the .zip file to add the certificate plugin?

KharisKeymasterHello Tammy,
To verify whether this issue really happened only with Certificate plugin, try installing other plugins. Download a plugin from plugins directory and upload it to your site.
If you still get the same issue, read this blog post, that will guide you how to fix 403 forbidden error.
Or you may install the plugin manually via FTP client program: https://wordpress.org/support/article/managing-plugins/#manual-plugin-installation

Tammy TappanParticipantOkay – found the issue – I had to deactivate WordFence on both the staging & production sites! I’ve uploaded the certificate .zip file, I’ve activated that plug-in…and now I’ve totally lost my place on instructions as to how to use it! Help? Is there a how-to guide for the certificates?

alex arafatParticipantI faced the same 403 issue while trying to upload a plugin and found that using FTP or the File Manager in cPanel worked as a workaround. Funny enough, I was troubleshooting this while having lunch at Bedok Mall food court—right above Bedok MRT. With so many great options around, it actually made the whole debugging session a bit more bearable!

Rose SnowdenParticipantWhen you encounter a “403 Forbidden” error while trying to upload a WordPress plugin, it often points to a server security setting blocking the upload. Instead of using the WordPress dashboard’s upload feature, you can bypass this by using an FTP/SFTP client to manually upload the unzipped plugin folder directly into the wp-content/plugins directory. Alternatively, you can use your web hosting provider’s file E-ZPass MA manager to upload the files. After uploading, the plugin will appear in your WordPress dashboard, ready for activation.
